What is Mixed Media? Find out by joining instructor Ronda Maseman as she uses different mediums to create pages of art that look complex but are easily produced. In this six week course, students will explore how to use basic elements of drawing and various mediums – pencils, pastels, collage, watercolor, acrylics, and collage – to develop various pages in an art journal. Students will experience art as a form of self expression and their creative skills will grow naturally.

Students will learn the basics of their chosen instrument. They will learn sight reading, music theory, scales, improvisation. They will also learn different styles of music. Rock/Metal, Blues, Country, Blue Grass, Folk, Jazz, Finger Style.

Relief Printmaking I

Time: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm

Session I   9/7/17 – 10/12/17  (six classes/weeks).

Discover the fun of making blocks prints by hand and with an etching press!
Carve on styrene and linoleum. Print a small matched edition and then get
playful and see how different the same print can be.

$20 material fee (pay instructor on first day)
Ink, linoleum, and paper are provided.
Loaner chisels are available for class or you can purchase a new set.

This class will introduce different ways to add color to your block prints, starting with the reduction process. Students should have some experience making one color prints prior to taking this class. $20.00 material fee due at first class. Bring your chisels, or we have loaner sets during class.

Abstract Painting with Acrylics

This course is designed for the intermediate to advanced painter or anyone who just

wants to loosen up their painting style. Each class will begin with an abstract exercise/demonstration.

Learn the basic principles of abstraction with a concentration on concept, color and composition. Learn the principles of simplifying nature (reduction), making shapes within shapes, with emphasis on negative shape making. Liz will demonstrate lots of abstract techniques to help achieve a cohesive look for your paintings.

Create a Masterpiece in the Style of Oriental Brush Painting

Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm.

Learn to paint the Sumi Style (oriental brush painting). Subjects to be taught. Bamboos 竹, Orchids 蘭,Chrysanthemums 菊,Plum blossoms梅,岁寒三友 (Three amigos) bamboo, plum blossoms, and the pine tree, 蘭(春spring)、竹(夏summer)、菊(秋autumn) 梅(winter)

**Instructor will supply the Chinese brushes for use in class, Bottle black ink, Wet-one, paper towels, if anyone prefers to use their own watercolor, please bring them, we will have Chinese watercolor on hand for use in class.

Zen doodle drawings is a fun and relaxing way to create beautiful patterned, line drawings. This unique type of meditative art requires no previous art experience and is for beginners to advance!

Frame it, hang it, or turn it into greeting cards. The projects are endless!
The concept is easy to learn and is offered for both teens and adults.
** Supplies are included. Take one session or all three! Each session creates new patterns and drawings.

Alcohol Inks – 1 Day Workshop (Sat.)

Saturday, October 14, 2017
Time: 10:00am to 2:00pm

The alcohol inks have a mind of their own and they are crazy fun!  Be prepared for some intense color in this workshop!  In the morning session we will explore non- traditional tools for painting with the alcohol inks and you’ll learn some techniques to achieve a nice abstract quality using yupo paper for your surface.

In the afternoon session we’ll use markers and brushes and you’ll learn techniques to control the ink. We’ll paint on ceramic tile, yupo and terra skin paper.  Either way it’s kindergarten without the sharing!

This beauty glides, gracefully over the ice, crusted earth. The sheer layers of crystal and blue frost in her skirt, reflects the frozen light.

Join nationally renowned artist Deb Wood and create this fiery redhead. The Ice Queen  ”Isolde” stands 10″ tall (overall height including base and headpiece is 12″) and is created from polymer clay.

Covered in this workshop, sculpting her face, arms, hands and upper body. Isolde’s lower body creates the foundation for her costuming and will be provided to you at the start of the workshop.

You will also learn about several new products and unique techniques, will be introduced as used in costuming, as well as ways to adapt some products you might already be familiar with and have on hand. Also, including in the instruction will be wigging, costuming techniques, making wings, accessorizing, and embellishments.

About the instructor: Deb Wood has been teaching seminars in polymer clay for more than 25 years now, traveling across the country to share her techniques. She has been featured on TV, in newspaper articles, magazines and even on the Home Shopping Network! You may view her work on her website or her blogs. She offers sculpting classes to students all around the world through her art group, International Art Doll Registry and also at A for Artistic. Deb’s workshops are fun, organized, informative, and productive! You will be amazed at what you will accomplish, under her attentive guidance!

Most of the supplies are included with your fee. A list for additional supplies and suggestions for tools and other things you might find helpful, will be sent along later.
