Join us at Mount Dora Center for the Arts Gallery to raise funds for no or low cost diagnostic testing and treatment for breast cancer for men and women in Lake County.

The public is invited to visit the Gallery and support the event by voting in person or online at, or participating in Live or Silent Auction.

Bra-Vo 2017 Gala Reception for Artists & Sponsors will be held on October 13th, 5-9pm during 2nd Friday Art Stroll is free and open to the public.  Artisans on fifth, a nonprofit co-operative shop, is located at 134 E. Fifth Avenue in Mount Dora, and is on the downstairs level of the historic brick building occupied by the Mount Dora Center for the Arts.

In the last 5 years, Artisans has donated an incredible $32,909 to the Waterman Foundation.  Last year’s fundraiser raised over $8559 and the money raised helped people fighting breast cancer in Lake County .   Artisans on fifth donates 100% of Bra-Vo net proceeds to the Waterman Foundation.  Bra-Vo shows what can happen when a caring community of businesses, merchants, students, artists and everyday citizens  united in a cause can accomplish together.

Creative Spirit of Palette Knives – 3 Day Workshop

1 hour lunch from 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm

No previous palette knife experience is required!

This workshop is about discovering the excitement and passion of palette knife painting. During this time, you will explore unique color mixing and knife painting techniques that promise to breathe new life into your repertoire of artwork. T he energy that is generated during these workshops not only teaches students more about painting, it also inspires the practice of acceptance.

There is no such thing as perfect here! Students use provided photo references of landscape; floral and figurative subject matter to learn how to apply paint with a knife. Through demonstration, Sally will introduces you to different knife sizes, stroke shapes and directions, textures, lost and found edges, etc. Students will practice painting with a full range of shoulder, elbow, and wrist motion in order to discover all the possibilities. Pre-mixed color palettes will be used to allow clean, decisive paint application.

Featured Exhibit Artist, Lynne Polley

Lynne Polley has called Florida her home for over thirty years. An aware winning graphic designer in the fields of advertising and publishing, Lynne’s paintings have been exhibited in numerous exhibitions across the country.

Lynne’s many years of working in the field of graphic arts and her experience as an oil painter, have both contributed to her love of design, color, and composition. Drawn to the beauty, one can only find outdoors, she continues to respond to nature and has studies with some of the nations best contemporary plein air artists.

Lynne says, “I find that I am driven to consistently explore all directions of creating art to achieve my personal best. I love to experiment and find the camaraderie that my painting community offers, to be such a wonderful support. I have been studying plein air for the past seven years and I’m drawn to light and shape of hidden out-of-the-way places.” Lynne currently has a studio located in College Park, Florida.

Pine Needle Weaving

Want to learn one of the oldest crafts in Florida? Then come join this class!

In Session one, is the basics of working with pine needles. When the class is done, you will go home with your first piece of pine needle art. For session two, you will learn two new stitches and will finish a small basket.

Using vintage imagery, found objects, and a variety of assemblage techniques, participants will create a altered cigar box shrine.
Honoring a soul that has passed on.

Personalize your shrine by incorporating photos of an ancestor or a dear loved one. You’ll leave with a meaningful keepsake that can be enjoyed year-round.

This class is for ALL levels of drawing. We will start each session with a short demo and a few experimental exercises. Participants will then work on their assigned project for the day in any medium of their choice. Instructor will provide individual assistance if needed. We will finish the session with a group discussion. Come with a positive attitude and your favorite lunch, while enjoying a few days of creative fun with your fellow artists!

Basic materials will be provided for first day, but please bring additional materials of your choice for your project.

Recovering from a loss, health issue, or other stressful situation?

Portraiture Open Studio

This will be a studio where experienced artists can work in any media they choose, or where a beginner can be mentored and assisted through basic anatomy, and the geography of the face through both 2D and 3D exploration. Live models will be utilized on occasion.

Intro to Traditional Calligraphy – 1 Day Workshop

Students will be introduced to basic lettering strokes that form the alphabet and create beautiful calligraphy. Rediscover the art of handwritten communication with this beginner’s class.

Basic Beginning Watercolor

Interested in exploring watercolor, but afraid to take the plunge?
Come play and explore the possibilities of what the medium can do.
Learn in a “no pressure” setting about color mixing, how to use your brushes, watercolor techniques, special affects, light/shadow, and what makes a good composition. The final class will produce a simple landscape painting.

Krista Leland is a certified instructor offering a yoga class for people of all levels of experience and fitness. She focuses on proper breathing, yoga postures and enhancing awareness, while enjoying a natural flow of synchronizing movement of body and breath.

These classes are calm and gentle, but also challenging. Keeping in mind specific, individual needs, and giving each student attention. Instructor aspires to provide a physically challenging practice, while cultivating balance between mind, body, and spirit.
